Galapagos Islands Group Experience Highlights
Simply put, the Galapagos Islands are a bucket list destination. Made famous by Charles Darwin from his exploration on the HMS Beagle, the islands are unparalleled when it comes to viewing wildlife, including some species that don’t exist anywhere else in the world, up close and personal. On this active experience, guests will literally “trip” over wildlife. Because this trip is land-based, they will also get a taste of Ecuadorian culture and a true feel for the islands “vibe”.
Two islands will serve as home base for this incredible journey: Santa Cruz and Isabella. Each of these islands will serve as the launching point for daily adventures. Some will take place on the sea, including a voyage aboard a private yacht to visit Punta Carrion where they will snorkel with tropical fish, graceful rays and white-tipped sharks before ending the day with a colony of Sea Lions on South Plaza Island. Other adventures will take place on land, like a hike up to the massive Sierra Negra Volcano, the world’s second largest volcanic crater.
For true travelers, the Galapagos is a must see and the land-based version gives groups more flexibility to plan something that fits their particular needs.
Groups will fly in and out of Baltra Island, Galapagos via Quito, Ecuador.
This land based Galapagos adventure utilizes two oceanfront hotels, one on Santa Cruz island and the other on Isabella Island. Accessible only by water taxi, our Santa Cruz hotel is one of National Geographic’s Unique Hotels of the World. It features Cordon Bleu gastronomy, beach front living, a freshwater swimming pool, hammocks in each room, and plush beds with fine linens. On Isabella, guests will stay in a truly unique location. This beautiful lodge is located on a desolate strip of beach and is a short walk from the Giant Tortoise Breeding Center and Flamingo Lagoons from where they can take a scenic bike ride to the historic Wall of Tears.
